In 2018 the Loyola University Chicago, the University of Michigan, Villanova University, and the
University of Kansas have made it to the Final Four.
Each team brought their own unique strategies to the final four, stories, strengths, and weaknesses to the court. There was a
wave of popular support for Loyola — people love underdogs — but also perhaps because of
their charming mascot that has captured the hearts of many: Sister Jean.
98-year-old nun and Loyola’s chaplain, Sister Jean, prayed with the team before games and
supported them from the sidelines.
Loyola went on to reach the final four among the likes of Michigan, Villanova, and Kansas. The

emotional leader for the Loyola Ramblers. They went on to defy all odds as Loyola carved their
path to the final four with miraculous victories over higher-ranked opponents the entire way.
The Ramblers are back again in 2021 as they beat Georgia Tech in the first round, and they upset
one of the #1 seeds as they won the in-state battle vs. Illinois. This year, Sister Jean is 101 years
old, and the first time she can watch the Ramblers play live in person was their first game of the
